Laser Dentistry
Many patients are frightened by needles, drilling, and/or numbness. For those patients, Laser Dentistry may be the perfect solution.

Laser DentistryLaser technology is one of dentistry’s latest and most intriguing advances. Dental lasers deliver energy in the form of light. Depending on the preferred end result, this light energy travels at varying wavelengths and is absorbed by a “target.” In dentistry, these specific “targets” may be tooth decay, tooth enamel, gum tissue or whitening enhancers.

Laser dentistry can be used for both tooth-related and soft tissue-related dental procedures. The best part is that, often times, no local anesthetic is required, which is a big relief for patients with a fear of needles. As opposed to dentistry done with a typical dental drill, laser dentistry produces no heat or unsettling vibration, which makes the procedure that much more comfortable for a majority of patients. What’s more, with soft tissue procedures (surgical procedures) laser dentistry eliminates the need for suturing (stitches), and the healing process typically happens much more quickly.

Laser Periodontal Therapy
The Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure™ (LANAP™) is an innovative, bio compatible periodontal therapy designed for the effective treatment of gum disease through regeneration, rather than resection, making it well aligned with the goal of bio-compatible periodontal therapy to eliminate infection without eliminating tooth structure.

Laser Periodontal Therapy | LANAPWith Laser Periodontal Therapy, a tiny laser fiber is inserted between the tooth and the gum, and the infection is cleared away without any cutting or stitching of the gums. The tooth roots are then thoroughly cleaned of tartar and plaque, and the laser is used again with a different setting to create a stable, firm blood clot to seal the pocket. LANAP targets and eliminates only diseased tissue and conserves healthy root structures and gum tissue, reflecting bio compatible periodontal therapeutic principles. Furthermore, because LANAP assists with the formation of a fibrin clot between the tooth and gum to initiate attachment, the procedure allows the patient’s own immune system to assist in the healing process.

The LANAP Laser Periodontal Therapy Advantage

LANAP provides a number of benefits over traditional surgery, including reduced post-operative pain, fewer sessions, and a quicker, easier recovery time. Unlike conventional scalpel/suture flap surgery, LANAP is fast, usually requiring just one to two sessions each lasting two to three hours, and patients can often return to their regular daily activities immediately following the procedure.

If you are in need of gum disease treatment and would like to learn more about LANAP Laser Periodontal Therapy, contact us today. One of our friendly dental team members will be happy to discuss the procedure and the options that best fit your personal needs.

Intraoral CameraThe Intraoral Camera is a revolutionary diagnostic dental tool allowing us to more identify potential problems within the mouth early on. The tiny intraoral camera can be inserted into a patient’s mouth, taking pictures of the teeth and displaying the images on a computer screen. Using the intraoral camera saves time and makes problems easily visible to both the patient and the doctor. Patients can view the areas we will be working on, making procedures more understandable. The accompanying software also provides clear and accurate data so that the best treatment options can be selected. To learn more about the intraoral camera, please contact our office today.
Equipment & Instrument Sterilization
Everyone benefits from rigorous infection control: you, your dentist, and the dental team. The cornerstone of a good, safe dental practice is trust. You should feel confident in the care you receive at your dentist’s office. That’s why we want you to know everything about our daily procedures and policies. Dr. Granovsky, Dr. Urban, and our entire dental team follow procedures recommended by several federal agencies, including: the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). These measures include:

  • Use of disinfectant hand soap
  • Use of gloves and face masks
  • Chemical disinfection of counter tops and surfaces
  • Sterilization of all equipment before every use
  • Use of disposable materials

Our office heat sterilizes all reusable equipment, including dental hand-pieces. We use an autoclave, a device which kills bacteria and viruses by steam, heat, and pressure. Additionally, we help our patients with their effectiveness in their at-home cleaning.
